His supporters won’t admit it, but Donald Trump is perhaps the shallowest candidate to seek the Oval Office in our lifetime. Even if you support him, it’s hard to deny that.

The latest example was Trump’s call for Americans to boycott Apple until the tech giant succumbs to the feds’ demands that it provide a way to retrieve data from the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino shooters.

But as the Washington Post points out, Trump is still tweeting with his iPhone.

In other words, Trump really has no intention of boycotting Apple. He was hypocritically mining for votes by appealing to what he thought was a hot issue for red-blooded voters. 

In the process of doing so, Trump has once again proved true his critics who have said repeatedly that he’s no conservative. Since when do conservatives support the government instead of a privately-held business on privacy issues? The most notable one who comes to mind is George W. Bush, who supported the Patriot Act in the aftermath of 9/11…which is interesting, since Trump spent all of last week bashing Bush.
